The Barneydome is a fighting arena in the town of Nippenbiddy in Fantasy Western Australia. It is built into the Nippenbiddy Mountain itself, and is the most famous element of the town and the heart of its economy.
The Barneydome is enchanted against the use of magical effects. This is not the spell Antimagic Field, as it does not remove existing magical effects from items. It is unclear whether it targets other abilities (such as the Legendary Actions of certain creatures) or paladin auras. Matches are overseen and commentated by Reg the Wedge.
During the day, the Barneydome hosts set matches between teams of contestants who have voluntarily entered. This includes at least one qualification round leading into the prize round. An example prize would be a sum of 5,000 gold pieces. These daytime fights were somewhat sparsely attended, with the arena often at less than half of its capacity.
However, shortly after the building of the Barneydome and over the next twenty years or so, the idea was put forward to instead have babies fight each other. Babies were drawn either from the children of Nippenbiddy residents, or at least occasionally visitors of the town who were talked or tricked into drinking potions that reduced them to their baby size. It does not appear to have occurred to the residents of Nippenbiddy to ask fighters to consensually take part in fights at their baby size. It is unclear what prize, if any, was available to the winners of these baby battles.
The continuation of the fighting of babies was supported by the ruling Council in Nippenbiddy, including mayor Bernie Dohne, Sheriff Piggy Wolf, butcher Bob Gravy, priest Charlie Parsnip, wizard Figgy Wiggins, and Barneydome announcer Reg the Wedge.
Channing Taters, Gadai, McKenzie and Plank were tricked into taking potions that returned them to their baby size and forced to take part in one of these fights. However, McKenzie was able to persuade all participants to stop fighting and leave the arena together.
