- And then a horrible woman's face - and then an old woman's face - older, middle-age, woman's face, presses up against the glass, and her face has been hacked to bits. It's like a messy jigsaw puzzle of slashed-up pieces, and some of the fleshy pieces of her face fall out of the mirror fall out of the mirror and clump into the sink and start to, like, slide down towards the drain.
History[]
Shirley Shitley was a resident of Gunnacarkit who worked at Solomon Brumby's Bakery during the lifetime of owner Solomon Brumby. One day, she tripped while working and fell face-first into the unprotected sausage slicer, which left her with lethal facial injuries from which she bled out shortly afterwards. Brumby hid her body in the basement and took the pieces of her face, wrapped them in pastry, and sold them as "sausage rolls", claiming ownership of the idea.
Due to the unfinished business of her murder and the loss of money for her family, Shirley remained in the bakery as a ghost, haunting the mirrors of the building. At some point, her situation seems to have given rise to the urban legend of Sausageface Shirley, which states that if someone says "Sausageface Shirley" into a mirror three times, the ghost will appear to haunt them.
At some point, either before or after her death, Shirley became aware of Solomon Grundy's enchanted mimic chest in his office, containing the money he had earned from the items accidentally created by accidents involving his employees.
At some time after her death, though it is unclear whether it was before or after the death of Brumby, someone wrote on the mirror in the toilets, "For a good time, say Shirley into the mirror three times".
By at least her final Spookaroo as a ghost, Shirley has the knowledge and ability to reach out on the night of Spookaroo, broadcasting a message asking for anyone who hears to come to the bakery, solve the mystery, and free the various ghosts from their limbo status.
Characteristics[]
Shirley is the ghost of a middle-aged human woman. Her appearance at the time of her death is difficult to distinguish due to the injuries which killed her: her face is covered in criss-cross cuts that have led to various pieces of her flesh falling off each time she is summoned.
She appears to be trapped within the mirrors specifically of Solomon Brumby's Bakery.

Episode 12: Spookaroo Special, The Haunted Bakery Part 1[]
Shirley first appears as an indistinct voice through the Chatterpillars of Gadai, McKenzie and Plank, saying, "Save us. Help us. Solve the mystery, save the town. Ask for Shirley."
When the name Shirley is said into the mirror of the toilets in Solomon Brumby's Bakery three times, Shirley appears, accidentally frightening Plank and frightening McKenzie so badly that she is temporarily aged forty years. She is grateful that they have come and asks them to solve the mystery of the bakery so that they can return hope to the town, explaining that Brumby stole the ideas of his employees and murdered them, keeping the money for himself and leaving their families to starve. The argument regarding the murder, at least, is successful, and she manages to persuade them to help her and the town.
As the group are in the process of attacking the mimic, Shirley appears again to stop them, warning them that if they simply kill the mimic the gold inside will be lost forever. Once a magic mouth left by Brumby confirms this to be true, Shirley explains the circumstances of her death, and that she cannot remember her surname but that it should be written on her namebadge still.
Once the namebadge saying "Shirley Shitley" is retrieved from the sausage slicer, Shirley is excited about getting to find out what her name was again, sure that it is "something fancy, I bet, something noble", guessing at Shirley Cleopatra. Gadai, McKenzie and Plank lie and agree that this is exactly what her surname was, and the ghost of Shirley fades away happy, her unfinished business completed.
