Halflings are an uncommon race in Fantasy Australia. They do not have a royal family or capital city.
Many Fantasy Australia residents may reach adulthood without encountering halflings, because of their scarcity. Because of their short stature, they are often considered by other races to be cute and childlike, which can lead to patronising or insulting behaviour towards them. However, most halflings who have interacted with other peoples have had to grow up tough and tenacious, and they are not to be underestimated.
Nicknames for them include tackers, anklebiters, or short stuff. Racial slurs include: shitsqueaks, jelly babies, mulligrubs, happy meals.
