Dwarves are a common people in Fantasy Australia, where they are commonly known as Tatermen. They are most common in Fantasy Western Australia, where the royal Edgerton Family has the coastal capital city of Taterton. Dwarves are a medium-size people, generally around five feet in height, with powerful and sturdy builds. They have impressive amounts of hair, including body hair, and of course magnificent beards.
Dwarves are commonly known as tatermen because they are short, lumpy, and live in the dark. This is meant both figuratively and literally, because while many live and work underground, for example in mining operations, many of the other races of Fantasy Australia also withhold information from them in order to exploit their lack of knowledge.
Due to their role in the pie mining industry, dwarves are known for eating significant numbers of pies. Their strong, stout physique often leads to them being considered fat. Racial stereotypes state that between their physical work, they tend to take long breaks, and may even fall asleep in a pile in the corner. Urban legend states that if a group of dwarves become entangled by the beards, they form a "Taterking”. Conversely, a small tumbleweed of rogue taterman hair is called a “Tatertot”.
In The Clungeon, attractive dwarves are found in the third circle, which is given over to sensual massages.
