Inside there is a small rectangle of board and pinned to it is the skeleton of a fairy, and it's skeletal wings are kind of flapping, cracking against the thing, trying to get out.

History[]

Little is known of Cinnamon Shadowberry's history prior to her encounter with Gadai, McKenzie and Plank. At some point, she came to inhabit the material plane. In Gunnacarkit, she ended up working for Solomon Brumby at his bakery.

One day, she was knocked over by a loaf of bread, with her fairy dust covering it. Solomon Brumby found the bread delicious, and therefore captured and enslaved Cinnamon Shadowberry to force her to give up her fairy dust to make fairy bread. She was pinned to a board to prevent her from flying. The exact cause of her death is not known, but years after Brumby's death her body would be found in a drawer in his office.

Characteristics[]

Cinnamon's appearance in life is unknown, but she appears as a tiny skeletal form with skeletal wings, indicating that in life her wings were of a form which had a bone structure.

She has been hurt and betrayed by humans before, and her moods are erratic and swift-changing. She moves from crying to threatening in a very short time, and is ultimately petty enough to refuse to give her name until Gadai, McKenzie and Plank have done something for her. However, her caution may be partially to do with the power of true names among fey creatures.

Episodes[]

Episode 12: Spookaroo Special, The Haunted Bakery Part 1[]

Cinnamon's ghost gets the attention of Gadai, McKenzie and Plank by rattling the drawer in which her body is being held and flapping her skeletal wings. When Gadai opens the drawer, it springs open to reveal a small rectangular board with a fairy skeleton pinned to it. Gadai releases the skeleton, which flies up above the display cabinet.

Cinnamon Shadowberry is distraught and hurt when McKenzie references fairy bread, and threatens McKenzie. She refuses to give her name. When Plank speaks more sympathetically, she explain how Brumby enslaved them for their fairy dust, and briefly considers sitting on his shoulder, but ultimately refuses to tell them her name until they have made her a sandwich using things squeezed out of them in return for all her years having things squeezed out of her. She then shuts herself back into the drawer.

When the drawer is later opened again, she emerges to see Plank, McKenzie and Gadai having arranged themselves into a pile in order to make a 'sandwich', and falls about laughing with delight at the ridiculous scene. She then tells them her name.

Quotes[]

  • "I'll tell you my name - on one condition. I'm tired of having things squeezed out of me for other people's profit. Make me a sandwich out of things that are squeezed out of you, and then we'll talk."
  • "That is ridiculous. You guys are so fucking ridiculous. Oh, I wish cameras had been invented because you guys look fucking stupid, oh my god."

Trivia[]

  • It is unclear how Brumby suppressed or overcame Cinnamon Shadowberry's innate magical abilities, but since he seems to have had considerable magical ability it is not impossible that he did so.
  • Unlike Solomon Brumby's other victims, Cinnamon Shadowberry was kept alive to be used. Since many fey creatures have lifespans best measured in centuries, she likely would have outlived him.
