You approach "Bob Gravy's Butchery", there's a lot of fucking crazy carcasses hanging from hooks, and Bob is there. He's a very large, straight-faced, stern, middle-aged man and he is chopping up some meat like it is just nothing, he just does not care.

History[]

Little is known of Bernie Dohne's history prior to his encounter with Channing TatersGadaiMcKenzie and Plank. At some point, he came to reside and work as a butcher in Nippenbiddy and became part of the council that run it. He has a teenaged son.

Characteristics[]

Bob Gravy appears to be a straightforward, hard-working man not particularly aware of larger forces and focused on his trade and work. He answers the questions put to him by Gadai and McKenzie clearly and simply. However, he is later revealed to be one of the all-male council running Nippenbiddy and continuing the practice of baby fighting. This makes it clear that he prioritises money over the feelings of the townsfolk. Additionally, he has a teenaged son of his own, likely spared the Barneydome due to internal favouritism, but whom he is willing to send to threaten and attack professional fighters Channing Taters and Plank.

Episodes[]

Episode 10: Beyond Barneydome Part 1[]

Bob Gravy is mentioned by Wenzo as one of the individuals who might be able to help Channing Taters, Gadai, McKenzie and Plank in clearing Channing's name after he has been accused of murder. Gadai and McKenzie visit his shop, Bob Gravy's Butchery, to ask questions about the baby bones found outside the house of Jazzabelle. He confirms they are humanoid baby bones and that babies vanishing and even being found dead is unfortunately not uncommon in Nippenbiddy. He explains to Gadai that his meat comes both from wagons that traders bring in, and from local hunters. He also states that they do not sell or eat dingledonger meat, not least since they are difficult to catch. As they leave, he reminds them to return if they ever need a good deal on meat, but does ask them to take the baby bones with them.

Episode 11: Beyond Barneydome Part 2[]

One of the group who attack Channing Taters and Plank, intending to stop them from further investigating the missing babies, reveals himself after surrendering to be the teenaged son of butcher Bob Gravy. Bob Gravy is mentioned as being one of the council of men who run Nippenbiddy and continue the practice of baby fighting.

Quotes[]

  • "Sure. Is it meat-related? Because I know a lot about meat." - Episode 10: Beyond Barneydome Part 1
  • "Well, all my stock that I was preparing on that counter is now fucked, uh, thank you for that... because you've just put a deceased baby's bones... but yes. They are the bones of a baby, and that I certainly know because unfortunately this sort of thing happens more than you would think."

Trivia[]

  • In Australia, "gravy" has the same meaning as in British English, meaning a sauce based on meat juices with a thickener. (It does not mean any thickened sauce, as in US English.) Therefore a gravy must contain meat items and is directly related to his profession of being a butcher.
